Chocolates by Tomes is a company that not only focuses on the chocolate it crafts but also on the people it employs.The company was started in 2005 with just three employees and over the years we have grown and invested in our employees. In our company, everyone has a role to play; from the team producing the silky smooth chocolate that is used by the team to handcraft the scrumptious confectionery or used by the baking team to create decadent cakes and biscuits. The skills that we have collectively developed over the years now serve us well and allow us to produce, in our opinion, some of the finest chocolates, confectionery, cakes and biscuits in South Africa.

What we do
We have been operating since 2005 and in that time we have grown from 6 employees to 45. We make our own chocolate from raw ingredients sourced from Africa.
To bring out the rich flavours of the cocoa bean, we conch the chocolate for a minimum of 48 hours and then we craft this chocolate into deliciously tempting, chocolate confectionery.
We also make a range of nougat, caramels, and fudge.
Our range of baked biscuits, brownies, and mini brownies are quite irresistible.
We supply our couverture to many top hotels and chocolatiers in South Africa. We supply most of the top hotels in Cape Town with pillow turndowns.
How we do it
When we make our chocolate we carefully blend the raw cocoa ingredients with just enough sugar to sweeten and add vanilla to draw out the flavours of the chocolate.
We conch our chocolate for 36 – 48 hours and refine the ingredients until the flavours are carefully balanced and the chocolate is silky smooth.
With each batch of our premium chocolate we produce, you can be assured we are giving you and your clients or colleagues a true taste of Africa.
